Abstract

The tandem master brake cylinder has main and secondary pistons and with the secondary piston fitted with a flow control valve which compensates for fluid loss and which closed to operate the brakes. In order to limit the amount of free play in the master cylinder, the valve element is operated by an extension held in position by a spring. This closes the valve as soon as te piston is moved forwards for the braking stroke. a fast response is thus obtained on braking no matter in which position the secondary piston starts its stroke.
