Abstract

The hulls of ships are protected from marine vegetation by using a metallic sheet of an anti-incrustation metal in the form of a strip, which is progressively wound under pressure and moulded around the hull, with a layer of glue between the strip of metallic sheet and the surface of the hull, in order to join the metallic sheet onto the whole of the external surface of the hull beneath the water line. The metallic sheet is sufficiently thin to be easily applied and sufficiently thick to give protection against incrustations for a period of 2-5 years.
