Abstract

Imidazo 2,1-a isoquinolin-5-ol derivs. of formula (I) (where R0 is H, F or Cl, and R, R1 and R2 are H, F, Cl, CH3, OCH3 or CF3, or R + R1 or R1 + R2 is methylenedioxy, in which case R0 and R2 are H; and R3 is H, F, Cl or CH3; provided that when R or R2 is CF3, then R1 is H, F or Cl, and that is not >2 of R0, R, R1 and R2 are other than H), e.g. 5-(p-fluorophenyl)-2,3,5,6-tetrahydroimidazo 2,1-a isoquinolin-5-ol, are new cpds. They are prepd. by reacting dilithium dervis. (II) of 2-(p-R3-o-tolyl)-2-imidazoline swith substd. benzoyl halides or benzoic acid 1-4C alkyl esters. The dilithium derivs. (II) are new. (I) have CNS stimulant and appetite suppressant activity.
