Abstract

The electric crumb collector is switched on by placing it on the work surface, this action effecting the displacement of a basally projecting (36) vertical sliding rod (34) which in turn effects the closure of electrical contacts (44, 42) and the linking of the power source (30) with the brush collector (28, 20). The appliance is for use collecting crumbs from tables after meals etc, and constitutes a cuboid housing of which two opposed walls project beneath the base to form runners (12), the sliding rod normally projecting basally beneath the runners, and the base being apertured (18) to allow the brush (20) which rotates about a horizontal axis to project to runner level. The mobile contact (44) is pref. supported on a blade spring ad the brush directs crumbs up a ramp (22) into a collection area (26).
