Abstract
The lug (1) has bolted to it a metal part (2) by means of insulating pieces (26) held by nuts and bolts (27) (30) (28) (29). The battery cable is sweated into a hole (25) in the end of the metal extension. A steel ball (23) makes electrical contact between the two parts. It is held by a pivoted lug (4) under tension of spring. The lug is held by a screw (14) entering a boss (8) in a foot (7) fitted to the metal extension piece. A hole (13) in the pivoted lug keeps the ball in position. A violent shock displaces the ball and severs electrical connection from the battery.
