Abstract

The system to use a plastic strip as the weft in developing carpets, and other woven floor coverings, uses heat to soften the ends of the weft strips for them to be pressed by PTFE-coated surfaces into the edge of the fabric. The system allows the use of a shuttleless loom to manufacture the fabric, and ensures that the edges of the material are sealed and bonded.
