Abstract

Normally, overflow pipes have to be removed when the sink is emptied, but this invention provides an overflow pipe which doesn't have to be removed. The pipe (4) has an externally threaded joint (5) which connects with an internal thread (3) in the outlet (1). Above the threaded section is a water-tight lip which, when the pipe is twisted clockwise, presses against the surface of the outlet. The section of overflow pipe between the thread and the water-tight lip has slits (6). To allow sink to empty, the pipe is merely twisted in the anti-clockwise direction and the water flows past the lips and enters the waste pipe through the slits in the overflow pipe.
