Abstract

The level of liquid is measured by a vertical float acting on a strain gauge cell which transforms float movement into an electrical signal. A cylindrical float (2) extending almost the height of the reservoir has a larger diameter on the upper part compared with the lower part to permit compensation for liquid density. The top of the float is attached to a semi-rigid seal (10) by studs (14) which also provide attachment for a pivot pin (22) for a connecting shaft (20). This shaft is connected to two other shafts (24, 26), one of which (24) is attached to the casing (18) while the other is screwed to the strain gauge cell (34) which is maintained under tension by a shaft (36) and stirrup (4).
