Abstract

Components e.g. delivered by a proportioning pump, are forced to flow through a pipe within which internal obstacles deform their flow lines from laminar to turbulent so that mixing takes place. Esp. a spiral profile is applied to the inner wall of the pipe. The height of the profile is 0.25-0.75, esp. 0.4-0.6 of the tube dia. and its pitch is 0.5-1.5 esp. 0.9-1.1 of the tube dia. Glass pipe with glass enamelled Covar wire spiral may be used or both may be wholly or partially of inert plastic. Esp. for use with an analyser, the mixer is trouble free by avoidance of moving parts.
