Abstract

An ice making system has a number of plates forming part of the evaporator of a refrigerator, and immersed in the top of a tank of water, so that ice blocks form on them, then when a given thickness is reached, they are removed and allowed to remain in the water. This process is assisted by a cooling coil and an agitator located in the bottom of the tank, the system being assigned for economy of power. A grid inside the tank, located under the plates on which the ice blocks form, keeps the detached blocks in position immersed in the water. This grid has arms of different lengths so as to keep the blocks correctly aligned while immersed.
