Abstract

The container (22) has a bottom surface (26) in which there is a hollow (28) directed towards the interior. When the container is subjected to internal pressure, the material deforms so that the circular intersection line (30) between the bottom (26) and the hollow (28) acts as a stable base for the container. Deformation occurs by bending at the corner (24) between the bottom and the conical section between the bottom and sides. Between 15 and 60% of the surface area of the bottom is accounted for by the hollow. The angle (A) between the tangent to the hollow and the bottom at this intersection is between 43 and 90 deg. The conical section (32) can be omitted. Various metals are used.
