Abstract

The system is based on double walls which surround the protected volume and contain a water sprinkler system. The sprinkler system can be seen connected to all of the spaces enclosed between the double walls, including an extension to the door. Water supply is connected at (37) and proceeds via conduits (23) to jets (25). Circulation is maintained by drawing off water at a high point (67) connected to exit (71). When the fire is extinguished, water remaining in the spaces between the walls may be drained off at (73) and (75). Actuation of the sprinkler system is by fusible wires. Contents of metallic strong boxes, or filing cabinets are preserved since the walls of the containers never get hot enough to char paper.
