Abstract

Normal flasher units are well known and very reliable, but to enable the driver to monitor the condition of the flashes unit the apparatus incorporates a "slave" lamp, clearly visible to the driver to indicate the state of functioning of the unit. The moving element of the flasher unit has a second contact. The flashing and warning lamps are thus operated simultaneously. The driver is advised both of correct functioning, both in flashing and in ceasing to do so. The intermittent action is given by an electromagnet and "breaking" contacts, as opposed to the more usual thermal, bi-metal strip type. The flashing warning lamp is more readily perceived by the driver than a steady light.
