Abstract

The headlamps are brought into the operating position by one or two electric motors operated by a switch and a coupled relay. The switch only has to be operated briefly so that the relay holds the motor current until the headlamp is fully open, after which the motor is dynamically braked by shorting its input lines to earth. To retract the lights the switch is briefly pushed in the other direction. To operated the flashers the switch is operate both ways in sequence and a time delay system ensures that the lights are fully extended and then flashed for a set period before being retracted.
