Abstract

The operating linkage enables two or more circuit breakers to be mechanically linked so that both operate simultaneously. The circuit breakers are constructed identically, i.e. a cam is attached to a shaft inside the housing and is operated by the breaker mechanism. The shaft protrudes out through the housing hole in its side cover plate. The outer end of one shaft is flat so that it engages in a slot in the opposite end of a second circuit breaker shaft. The outer surfaces of both circuit breakers around the two shafts holes are countersunk to accept a closure collar, which encloses the coupling when the two housings are pressed flush together.
