Abstract

1,226,600. Retractive switches; switch handles. BURGESS MICRO SWITCH CO. Ltd. 19 May, 1969 [28 May, 1968], No. 25554/68. Heading H1N. A switch comprising a casing provided with a cover and having a movable contact controlled by a lever-operated button has the lever pivoted within the casing on a spigot which is integral with the cover and projects inwardly therefrom. As shown, a snap-action microswitch, for example, is operated by lever 12 acting on the button 8 and the inner end of the lever 12 is accommodated in a recess 24 in the casing which has a blind hole 9 to receive the end of a spigot (19, Figs. 3 and 4, not shown) extending from the cover 2. The cover is made of thermoplastics material, such as nylon 66, and has additional spigots (17, 18, 19) which pass through holes, such as 21, 22, in the casing and are ultrasonically or heat formed to rivet the cover in position. The hole 9 may pass right through the casing and the pivot spigot (19) may extend to act as an additional fixing rivet.
