Abstract
A pancake machine has a frame, a frying roller mounted in the frame and turned by a motor, a batter through with a batter transfer roller carried by a support, bracket, under the guide rails of which it slides and is pressed towards the frying roller by a spring. The support bracket is hinged close to one end by a shaft, to a cross member of the machine frame. The hinge shaft stands at right angles to the axis of the frying roller, and a two-armed rocking lever is fixed to its lower end. The ends of a cable wound on the drum of a winch are attached to the arms of the rocking lever, and when the reversible motor is energised, the support bracket with the batter trough and roller swings from the working posn. against the frying roller to a posn. of rest, inclined at about 45 degrees to it, or returns from rest to the working posn. When the machine is stopped, the trough and batter roller are automatically removed out of range of the heat radiation of the frying roller preventing drying out, skin formation and partial premature cooking of the batter.
