Abstract

New anthelmintic agents contain >=1 1-omega-cyanoalkyl-carbamoyl-2-acylamino benzimidazole of formula (I) (where R1 is 1-3C alkyl or 1-8C alkoxy; R2 is 1-4C alkyl or H; x is 1-11). (I) have higher activity against helminths and their development stages in animals than prior art benzimidazole derivs. They also have better compatibility with various animal species and have higher water solubility, making them suitable for certain applications such as subcutaneous treatment of cattle. They may be used orally, parenterally or dermally in humans or animals, generally as 1-100 mg/kg/day.
