Abstract
1,239,679. Dihydropyridines. FARBENFABRIKEN BAYER A.G. 5 Dec., 1969 [7 Dec., 1968; 29 Jan., 1969], No. 59534/69. Heading C2C. Novel compounds I in which R is either 1-3C alkyl, alkenyl or alkynyl which may be substituted by OH or alkoxy or an optionally substituted benzyl radical; R<SP>1</SP> is H or 1-3C alkyl; R<SP>11</SP>' is straight or branched chain 1-6C alkyl, alkenyl or alkynyl optionally interrupted by one or more O or substituted by OH; and X is aryl substituted by at least one NH 2 or NO 2 and which may also be substituted by halo, alkyl, OH or alkoxy or X is α, # or γ-pyridyl are prepared by reaction of RNH 2 with XCHO and R<SP>1</SP>COCH 2 - COOR<SP>11</SP> or by reaction of XCHO with R<SP>1</SP>C- (NHR): CHCOOR<SP>11</SP>. Pharmaceutical compositions comprise a compound I together with a suitable carrier and are administered orally or intravenously as agents for treating coronary blood supply disturbances.
