Abstract

The storage stability of plant extracts prepd. using 2.2-dimethyl-4-hydrpxymethyl-1,3-dioxolan (DHD) as extraction solvent, is improved by adding to the extract an ammonium salt for formula (I): (where R1 and R2 are 1-6C alkyl, 1-6C hydroxyalkyl or 3-6C unsatd. (alkyl, or one or R1 and R2 can be benzyl; R3 is an opt. unsatd. >=8C hydrocarbon residue opt. interrupted by O,S or NH and opt. substd. by halogen, OH, NH2 or 1-6C alkoxy; R4 is benzyl or phenethyl opt. substd. by 1 or 2 Cl atoms; X is an acid residue). The addn. of (I) stabilises proazulene-contg. extracts, e. g., extracts of camomile (Matricaria chamomilla), Roman camomile (Anthemis nobilis), yarrow (Achillea millefolium) and wormwood (Artemisia absinthume, against formation of irritation odours and against pptn.
