Abstract
A spherical surface positioned in a pocket is so formed on the lower part of the balancing shaft and the bearing construction is so assembled that the centre of the spherical surface lies in the centre of the radial bearing and in the axis of the pocket. The housing simultaneously forms the oil sump which is bounded internally by tube having its lower end sealed against the housing. The bearing housing turns with the tower of the crane. The balancing shaft is contructed so that the centre of the radial bearing lies in the centre of the spherical surface of the shaft. In this way the optimum smallest axial bearing can be employed as its does not receive any eccentric loading.
