Abstract

Auramine hydrobromide or hydrofluoride concentrates in a hydrophilic solvent are claimed, the dye being pref. Auramine O. Auramine G, ethyl auramine or Auramine base obtd. from N-ethyl orthotoluidene. The concentrates are used for dyeing paper, textiles, leather and flexographic inks. Use of concentrates obviates the use of powder in bulk. In use the concentrate is diluted with water and does not ppte. The concentrate also has good stability. The solvent may be e.g. 1-3C alcohol, (tetra)furfuryl alcohol, (di) ethylene glycol, thiodiglycol, triethylene glycol, glycerine, glycol cyanhydrin, glycol mono-chlorhydrin, diacetone-alcohol and (m)ethyl (thio)ethers of these solvents, acetic, propionic, glycolic or lactic acid, formamide, butyrolactone or a mixt. of >=2 of above solvents, (m)ethanol, (di) ethylene glycol, thiodiglycol, glycerine, glycol monochlorohydrin or formamide being pref.
