Abstract

A simple temperature regulator using an expanding liquid to operate a valve provided with a safety mechanism for protection in case of failure of the liquid sensor in the form of a manometer which has a spring acting on a piston exposed to the pressure of the liquid which is adjusted so that if the pressure of expansion liquid in the liquid reservoir drops below a preset value the spring displaces the piston which brings the valve to a safety setting through a suitable mechanical or other linkage. In normal operation the valve is controlled by the expansion of the liquid in a capillary connected to the reservoir.
