Abstract

Thermosetting moulding compsn. comprises a mixt. of carbon and glass fibres 2-50 mm long coated with a pre-polymer of softening point 50-200 degrees C. derived from a bis maleimide and a biprimary diamine and constituting 20-60 wt.% of the total mixt. The compsn. is lightweight and has high impact and flexural strength. It may be used as a substitute for light alloys in aeronautical applications for such components as wings, leading edge, rudder fins, luggage room door, cabin partitions etc.
