Abstract

Hydraulic cements are set at to 100 degrees C under atm. pressure using an oligomer comprising recurring units contg. aromatic carbocyclic gp(s) and sulphonate gp(s), as the agent for reducing the necessary water content of the cement, the oligomer having a polymsn. degree of 30, pref. 3-10. The oligomer allows the cement to be steam set (cf. the use of lignin and lignin sulphonates). The set cement has improved compression strength.
