Abstract

The cap is particularly for use in conjunction with a sheet metal container, having a foot ring fitting in the container mouth and a compressible bellows joining onto a pouring spout. The spout is closed by a stopper, joined to it along a shear line, and broken off shortly after putting the container to use. The stopper can have a hollow cylindrical section for fitting inside the spout in order to reclose it, and a flat disc top constituting a hand grip to break it free, also with a rotary stirrup-type handle. The cylindrical portion can have a bayonet-type coupling to lock it into engagement with the spout by engaging with lugs on the latter.
