Abstract

The guard is to protect the relatively delicate sprockets which also move transversely and to prevent hands becoming trapped in them. The body (1) is rigidly attached to the frame, on or near the rear wheel axis. It extends below and in front of this axis and is partly located by the circular lug (1e). Bent rods (3) and (4) form the protection proper and extend outwards and downwards from the body. The pressed metal body (1), is hooked on the shaft of the body and bolted in place. Alternative protection, such as a slotted and bent plate, are also covered as are attachments at the rear end.
