Abstract

The high Q coaxial resonator for a television transmitter audio and video filters has an inner half-wave conductor section located inside the outer conductor. The inner section is supported at its centre by an insulating post or suspended at its centre by a radial metal support having a quarter-wave length. The inner conductor is made from a metal having a low coefficient of thermal expansion, and its length may be matched to the required frequency. The length is altered by a worm gear whose spindle passes through the metal support and drives the inner conductor halves axially in opposite directions. The resonator has a large tuning range over which its high Q is maintained.
