Abstract

The burner is mounted on a sliding arm attached to, and pivoting on the axis (R) of a shaft so that the burner can be guided along the segment of a circle with centre-point(S); points (R,S) are situated on either side of the axis of the round bar so that the burner can follow the periphery of the bar. The sliding arm pref. has a lug moving in a slot which defines the segment and a cam can be used to move the arm simultaneously in a direction at 90 degrees to its path along the segment. As an alternative arrangement, the lug and slot can be replaced by a crank mechanism. Device is used for welding cylindrical bars at 90 degrees to each other, e.g. for scaffolding used in building work, and increases the angle through which the burner can operate.
