Abstract

The chair embodies an approximately 90 deg. cranked lever arm (4) emanating from a horizontal hinge (5) beneath the seat (10) to form a vertically telescopic back rest support member (27): the hinge axis being parallel to the seat back. A box located centrally under the chair houses the axle bolt (5) and the lower extremity of the cranked arm (4), the inclination of the latter being varied by positioning an integral horizontal pin (11) carried by a pivoting finger (12) in the desired slot of an indented pivoting rack (7) with a vertical coil spring (19) between the seat rear and the cranked arm fixing their relative positions.
