Abstract
Auxiliary fluid inlets, disposed on a helix around the cylindrical body of a cyclone, with axial main inlet and outlet, are angled, e.g. at 30 degrees to the line of the helix, towards the main inlet so that the displacement of auxiliary gas flow towards the outlet is reduced. In this way input of auxiliary fluid may be reduced up to 20% and necessary pressure also cut. Entrained particles in the main flow, which is rendered helical by main inlet vanes, are thrown out centrifugally into auxiliary flow, and expelled via an annular orifice around the main inlet. Residence time of particles in cyclone is shorter, thus abrasion is alleviated.
