Abstract

The end covers consist of a circular disc made of stiff paper or cardboard and cut out with a number of notches around the circumference of the disc. The notches are equally spaced around the disc. The end cover is placed over the spool. The luds of the serrations are folded over the sides of the spool and may then be held in place by a wire ring or a glued paper band. Concentric circular fold lines on the end cover are printed to enable the same end cover to be used for any number of spool diameters between the inner and outer marked circles.
