Abstract

Transmission line equalisers can have the disadvantage that they have frequency dependant elements or are insufficiently accurate. Also, these methods involve test signals that are incompatible with the presence of data signals. This equaliser for group propagation-time can be permanently adjusted in the presence of data. It has two equaliser networks whose outputs are the inverse of the extreme limits of the required equalisation. A quantitive sampling circuit at the output, varies the required characteristics by appropriate combination of the two networks. The combining amplifiers use Field Effect Transistors and the quantitive analysis signal is in the form of pulses originating from a slaved clock generator.
