Abstract
1345779 Pulse regenerators, digital transmission FUERXER 19 April 1971 [6 March 1970] 24108/71 Headings H3T and H4P In a pulse regenerator system for multilevel signals the output and input of a regenerator circuit 3 are compared at 7 and the result passed through a low-pass filter 8 to an adder 2 preceding the regenerator, to correct the D.C. and low frequency components. A delay circuit 5 equalizes the delay to the two inputs of the comparator and the regenerator circuit 3 may be clocked. Fig. 4 shows the regenerator system 2-8 and also a clock synchronizer comprising a phase detector 15 comparing the input and output of the regenerator, an amplifier 16 and a low-pass filter 17. The level of the input signal or of the regenerator threshold is controlled by applying to a phase comparator 12, such as a ring modulator, the output of the regenerator and the output of a circuit 9 detecting the difference between the higher frequencies of the input and output of the regenerator, each path including a respective high-pass filter 10, 11. The resulting output is used to control the regenerator circuit threshold or the gain of an amplifier preceding the regenerator system.
