Abstract
The surface is a one-piece panel including a continuous lower flat plate, a first coating of plaster of paris overlapping the plate and adhering to it, an intermediate coating of expanded plastic, a second coating of plaster of Paris, and a continuous upper plate forming the actual working surface. The second plaster of Paris coating adheres to the upper plate. The upper plate can extend beyond the coatings below, to be bent over their edges and round the edges of the lower plate, and it can be glazed. It can also be shaped, together with the coating underneath it if necessary, to form a raised all-round edge.
