Abstract

This is basically a telpher system but with the pulley mounted horizontally below the water level. The pulleys are sited so as to give adequate depths of water for vessels using the anchorage. The rope is of synthetic fibre. The system, as well as being used for water skiing, may also be used for towing boats to their anchorages. The rope is held at virtually constant depth by guide gullies on the bottom of the marina, etc. For skiing, the course is a closed one, the skiers leaving by a free skimming section ending on a beach. The floats have aerodynamic sections to reduce resistance and eliminate vibrations due to waves. They are each preferably attached to the cable via a pole pivotally attached to a connection on the cable.
