Abstract

Two mating male and female components form the multi-pin connector, the female tree part having a bell housing holding the socket pins, and a locking pin which is free to rotate around it. The depth of penetration of the male and female units is controlled by rotation of the locking ring which has a pair of inclined grooves around the inner wall into which engage a pair of radial pins on the male part. The insertion is limited by an arrangement whereby a ball, held captive in a hole in a flange on the body shell, meets a hole in a flange rotating with the locking ring. A spring strip pushes the ball partly into the hole, preventing further insertion of the plug.
