Abstract

The device is applicable to a valve operated by a hand wheel attached to a threaded spindle (a) which can raise or lower the valve head (b). A collar (e) is attached to the spindle (a), upward travel of which is limited by a cap nut. When a setting of the valve has been found to give optimum flow the nut (f) is screwed down to touch the collar (e) and then locked by the lock nut (g). Should the valve afterwards be closed the optimum position can be found again by opening the valve to the limit allowed by the collar. A pointer (i) and a scale (h) can be used to indicate a number of different settings for the cap nut (f).
