Abstract

The indicator contains carboxylic acid derivs. as working medium and, as binder, solns. of polyvinylbutyral-modified resol phenol-HCHO resin in EtOH, pref. in a resin/butyrol wt. ratio of 1:1-5.7. It is used on a test piece with a surface in a contrasting colour for a wide range of applications in the foundry, mechanical engineering, radio technology, aircraft construction and other inds. It adheres well to the surface and is accurate in a wide temp. range under conditions of high gas flow rates and both at atmos. pressure and in vacuo to 1 x 10-4 torr. It pref. contains 20-25 wt.% carboxylic ester or salt and 80-75 wt.% 1-5% resin soln.
