Abstract

The engine has a circular cylindrical stator (ST) one end of which contains a elliptical rotor (RM) which leaves working chambers (C, C1) between itself and the stator varying in volume as the rotor turns. Radially sliding vanes in the stator divide each chamber into two compartments. Combustion takes place in recessed pockets (C4, C5, C6, C7) in the stator from which the gases pass to the working chambers for expansion and exhaust strokes. There is another elliptical rotor on the same shaft at the other end of the stator which forms working chambers in which the admission and compression strokes take place.
