Abstract

The supply circuit, for an electrically driven vehicle's d.c. motor, has the battery (V) bridged by a capacitor (C) and resistor (R). The motor (J) is connected to two switches (11, 12) which decide whether it is to act as a motor or braking generator. As a motor it is connected by the switches to one pole of the battery and over a pulsed transistor (T) to the other pole. As a generator it is switched so that a neon lamp (N) turns on a thyristor (Th) which allows the capacitor to discharge through an inductor (L). The motor then brakes the moving vehicle and recharges the battery over the inductor and a diode (D), now forward biassed.
