Abstract

The acoustic felt (2, 4) has on or both of its major surfaces covered by an adhered sheet (5) acting as surface decoration, as well as providing mechanical strength. At least one layer of sound insulating material (3) is enclosed within the acoustic felt thickness, and this or further intermediate layers are formed by a textile fibre sheet with one or both faces covered by a lead based paste and weighing at least two kilogrammes per metre. The different layers may be joined together at selected points by quilting buttons (6).
