Abstract

Lightweight floor covering comprises squares of wood wool or sawdust compressed with a binder such as magnesite, cement etc., which have on one of their faces a thin (1 cm) layer of anhydrite. The material which has a good thermal and acoustic insulation properties is readily mass produced. The anhydrite may be mixed with up to 2 1/2 times its own weight of CaO. The squares may be applied to plates of expanded plastic or on a filler layer.
