Abstract

E.g, nylon mesh net (1) used to prevent pollution of stretches of water is a partially submerged vertically shallow strip buoyed and weighted to stand vertical and trap flotsam. The net splits into two cord edged (2, 8, 11) longitudinal strips at water level (3), the top element of which incorporates pear shaped ballasted buoys (5) of height equal to strip depth, and the bottom element having regularly spaced weights (7) on the lower edge cord. A common edge cord (11) longitudinally joins the strips which are pref. anchored via coil sprung shock absorber units (15). Top strip is less than half as deep as lower.
