Abstract

Blast furnace charging appts. is fed from >=1 hopper which pours the charge onto a turning distributer associated with a turning chute which delivers the charge into the furnace. The distributer has a funnel-shaped central part and a flat peripheral part which receives the charge materials from the hopper(s) via a channel which remains at a fixed distance from the plane of the distributer. Fixed deflectors drive charge materials from the periphery towards the centre of the distributer which is driven at variable speed by a drive mechanism. Allows charge matls. of various grain sizes to be measured and distributed evenly into a blast furnace using simple robust appts. whose parts can be easily replaced.
