Abstract

The apparatus feeds items to a wrapping machine as fast as the machine will accept them to give an improved wrap. A belt conveyor (11), running at a higher speed than the machine feed conveyor (4), banks items behind a closed gate (14). This opens to release a predetermined number onto a table (12) where they are carried along by the horizontal bars (22) of two vertical chains (13, 21). These bars have the same pitch (P) as, and are synchronised with, the stations of the wrapping machine feed belt (4). At the end of the table (30), the items drop onto this belt.
