Abstract

The capotasto comprises a clamp with two parallel extending arms (12) which clamp around the neck of the guitar. The upper arm (1) which overlies the guitar fret to compress all six strings, comprises a semi-circular bar which is covered in rubber across its planar edge, which engages the fret. The bottom arm (2) is also a semi-circular bar with its planar edge covered by rubber or felt. The two arms (1, 2) are clamped around the guitar neck via a cylindrical spring forming a collet, forcing the arms together at one end, where they are pivoted together.
