Abstract
The lower half of the tower pivots on the superstructure, and is attached to the upper half at or near a point at which a ram or screw mechanism acts to vary the diagonals of a parallelogram. The other end of the mechanism is attached at or near a point on which a bar pivots. The other end of the bar works on two pivots solidly mounted on the top and bottom tower halves. A pull rod runs between a point on the slewing superstructure and one on the upper tower half.
