Abstract

The device applies to mechanically operated diaphragm clutches. As the clutch friction surfaces wear, additional travel of the clutch pedal is necessary causing increased deflection of the diaphragm and consequent deterioration. To prevent this the clutch pedal is mounted on its pivot side by side with a circular plate having a 90 deg. cutout, the edges of which support the pedal stops. The edge of the disc has ratchet teeth working with a spring loaded pawl so that the disc can move in one direction only when pushed by the pedal. Thus increased pedal travel due to clutch wear is automatically taken up as it occurs.
