Abstract

Cellulose material modified substitution of >=0.5 OH gps per anhydroglucose unit by non-ionic ether gps and limited crosslinking of the cellulose chains so that the prod. is water insol. but retains high moisture absorbency. The absorbency is not reduced by the polarity or Hp of solns in contact. The prods are used as disposable serviettes, sanitary towels etc. (derived from cotton linters).
